This is step to step guide to convert .mobi format to epub format in Calibre, Calibre is freeware to convert Kindle format to to EPUB/PDF/TXT/RTF format. you can read kindle ebook in Kobo or Sony ereader after conversion.

1. To convert nodrm mobi/azw3 file to epub/PDF/Mobi format in Calibre , download and install Calibre first, http://calibre-ebook.com/ Download Calibre here

2) Your add your nodrm azw/mobi file into to Calibre, which can be accomplished by pressing “Add Books” and selecting the proper folder. A pop-up window will then appear allowing you to browse to Kindle azw file. Select the file and click Open the file will then be added to Calibre.

3). Select your file and click Convert E-books, In the pop-up window that appears in the drop down box on the right hand side make sure that Output format is selected as ePub, other format you want.

4). To setup ePub file font size, click “Look and Feel” section on left, you also set other output setting in “ePub Output” section, then click “OK”

5). You get new epub file after conversion, press “O” to open folder, you will find epub file.

Note: It will work fine if mobi file doesn’t have DRM, you will get message if ebook has DRM. You need to removal Kindle ebook DRM first, this is how to remove Kindle DRM protection.

3. Run Kindle drm removal, click browser button to select epub file,

  • For Windows, files is saved in “My Document\My kindle content” folder.
  • For Mac, it is “~/Library/Application Support/Kindle” folder.

4 click Remove DRM button, if everything goes well, it will create a new nondrm mobi file in “document\Kindle drm removal” folder, nodrm file also can be htmlz file, both file format support by Calibre.
